Esan, you make a very interesting comment about a challenge that we are faced as game developers. If you are unwilling to listen to, respond to, and adopt some player input and suggestions, your game isn't as good as it could be. However, if you listen to and are guided by players too much, and if you shift around more than plastic flamingos in a Florida hurricane, your game, once again, isn't as good as it could be.

I think the objective is a good solid middle ground, where good suggestions are considered and sometimes adopted, but where the designers are the captains of the ship and do not allow it to get blown off course.

(Ok, enough weather and seaside references for me! )

Who knows if PvEer will even buy GW2 the way things have been going.
It's not off topic at all.

Actually, with the introduction of lootscaling, a lot of people (i'm apathetic, but I'll defend it against idiocy) were very very upset. Making cool stuff easy to acquire eliminates a desire to play hard at the game, because that cool stuff isn't cool anymore and all of a sudden the game is boring, because 99% of the people I've met in game care more about the in game money than the game.

GW2 should simply be separation of PvP from PvE. Keep the skills the same mechanic, just different numbers, I don't know. It hasn't really worked out the best keeping them together.

mohaha! then that must mean the Deceifult Scepter must be cool!
http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Deceitful_Scepter

it does meet all the requirement
**************************************

But all and all, to be serious, there might be some things that are rarer, but that does not mean they are "cooler" or better. I use skin that I've never seen some one else use, and there very comon skin. I don't like the Exalte shield or the dead sword skin, even the elemental sword is iffy for me.

Like the saying goes, its all in the eye of the beholder, double for guild wars since skin don't matter at all.

PvE can also contribute to designing PvP. The way you said it, it sounded like you ment it for skill balancing, I will agree there, a PvPer are better suited to balancing skills.

But for maps, different kinds of battle and even general skill idea, who say's a PvEr can't help?

The casual gamers are possibly working their way towards it getting all that nice stuff as well as gear in their own time and the not so hardhardcore farmers are doing the same. There are still things I want to get for my chars.

Lets hope they do keep it separate it would be nice if they could do that now 2 skillsets 2 different rulesets.

I'm not trying to start a debate, but your average PvE'er is ok with Searing Flames doing ridiculous damage.

There's a very good reason that There's Nothing to Fear! is a PvE-only skill. It's a better version of the much-nerfed Incoming, which is elite.

And in an average PvE setting, searing flames is ok (I don't use it, I run around with 2 rits and a ranger), its been said many times but PvE is fairly simple, and in most case running around with 6 searing flames ele and 2 monks is the fastest way to beat PvE.

The same can be said with PvP, you guys are trying to get the best built to have no problem beating your opponent.
****************************
The difference here is that, if its good for you in PvE, its good for you, and not bad for any one else. Thats why we see many cookie Builts every were.
The people that creates to built are very creative, any one after that is just too lazy to create a more effective built and are just there for the loot.

In PvP, an over powered built will be no fun but the winnning team, and a staleness will becomning boring over time because every one will just use that built. You want more of a fair fight for every one, and you want to leave room for creativity for many different kinds of built.

I hope ANet adds some new content. I've delayed getting GWEN to tie up some loose ends on some of my toons but I doubt GWEN alone is going to occupy me until GW2 comes out. I estimate that with the current content(I'm including PvP in this estimation) I have about 8 months of content before I'm "finished" with GW. I'm not a hardcore player but I'm not really casual either. I'd like some new PvE content added, like the mission pack, every 4 months or so and of course ANet should add new maps to PvP and test ideas for GW2 PvP in the current game.

I'm not going to suggest anything to ANet. They've done a reasonably good job of responding to the needs of the players.

You don't need to have a degree, but you need to be intelligent and mature enough to be aware of your own mentality. Unfortunately, most of the people I've seen in GW and on Gurus are neither.

Community relations may have been a major factor, but the community itself was the largest factor. Maybe it has something to do with lack of monthly fee making the bar for entry too low, but the GW community in general is terrible, and a social game based on such a community was doomed to fail from the beginning.

There's also the issue of whether it's actually possible to design a genuinely good game around casual players who, by definition, will never play it very much, never understand it very well, and never bother to get good at it or explore its full depth. While there's certainly something to be said for being just plain fun, simple fun does not by itself make a great game. Whack-a-mole was hella fun, but it's no Starcraft.

I'm happy with how everything is going (for me atleast).
I'm taking my time with the games, been going slow to finish all of them. Going to start GWEN soon. I think I can live for another year or so with how things are going, unless the community becomes a black hole from hell and too many "i'm so cool cause i cuss and bitch about people" kids come.

i think to make a good game that is unique and can maintain its identity the game devs hav to hav a know what exactly they want the game to become, or how they want the gameplay experience to be for the player and then take suggestion they havnt thought of themselves from the community that would help to steer their product to this objective. But dont take suggestions if u dont hav to, part of what can make gameplay fun to play is the element of suprise.

but u alrdy know this rofl

and ppl said anet dont respond lol

go!go! GW go! weee---~ lol

What was right about henchmen skillbars in the main campaigns? What was right about kill count in HA? What was right about loot scaling? What was right about the dishonour system? What was right about adding HB maps to the TA rotations?

Nothing that A-net does to GW is right, every change ruins the game more and more.

But it seems that no one at A-net cares that so many players are leaving the game and arent going to be buying GW2 over such stupid changes that they keep making.

The gaming community has a much better insight into what could be done to make the game more enjoyable, after all they are the ones that have been playing your game for thousands of hours, only to have the game rendered unenjoyable buy the ridiculous and poorly thought out decisions that A-net keep on making.

Yet you listen to no one and add things that ruin this once fantastic game more and more each time.
